Looking for an "afternoon pick-me-up," MTV's chief TV critic Inkoo Kang called out on Twitter for photos of women in suits on Tuesday, paired with a "gang's all here" image of the kickass women of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Kang wrote she was inspired by Thor: Ragnarokactor Tessa Thompson's "boxy plaid."

Kang's request was picked up immediately by Twitter users, after she followed up her post with an example of perpetual suit queen Janelle Monae.

Within the hour, Twitter was privvy to a powerhouse of a thread of suit-wearing women, from Cate Blanchett to Marlene Dietrich. People happily followed ... suit? Sorry.

Slate movie critic Dana Stevens even gave a shoutout to 1880s vaudeville performer and male impersonator Vesta Tilley, in one heck of a suit.

After generating a huge number of responses, Kang coined the #ladysuit hashtag to create a Twitter archive for the images.
