Google's annual I/O developer conference will take place May 17 - 19 at Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View,Bayo California.

Google being Google, it chose an unconventional way to reveal the date and the location for the conference: via a 5-part puzzle first announced on the Google Developers Twitter account.

The puzzle reads like something from a spy movie: It includes location coordinates, an unlisted YouTube video, a corrupted image and a riddle.

However, Google developers being smart folks, the puzzle was cracked in one day. Try harder next time, Google.

The dates are fairly standard -- the conference is typically held in May or June -- and the location is the same as last year. Throughout its 9-year history (10 if you count Google Developer Day, which was held in 2007 and inspired Google I/O that started next year), the conference was most often held at the Moscone Events Center in San Francisco, but it appears Google has outgrown that venue.

Google's official I/O page currently has no details on registration, bearing only a "check back soon," sign, though this will likely change in the near future.
